The impact of computerized applications on our education system
What mechanisms were utilized to execute effective teaching and learning?
Teachers all around the world are gravitating to online learning platforms in order to perform their daily instructional obligations. In the Caribbean, one tool used widely to enhance teaching and learning is power point. Microsoft PowerPoint, a popular presentation software, was created by Robert Gaskins and Dennis Austin, who founded a company called Forethought, Inc. In 1987, Forethought, Inc. released the first version of PowerPoint for the Apple Macintosh. This initial version of PowerPoint was designed to provide a graphical way for individuals to create and deliver presentations. Microsoft acquired PowerPoint in 1987 and began developing versions for Windows, which led to the widespread use of the software on both Mac and Windows platforms.
How does it work in terms of grasping materials?
PowerPoint presentations are created to make complex information easier to organize and understand, it is displayed in a structured and logical way, with this approach details are retained for longer periods of time. Users can design slides that represent various thoughts or concepts and these slides can then be personalized to suit the audience. Memory, attention and information processing all of which are important for generating and understanding this tool are highlighted in Cognitivist Perspective. It also gives emphasis to strengthen visual learning. It is used to create interactive learning experiences, such as quizzes, games and simulations, that engage learners and promote active participation.
PowerPoint is globally used, not only by teachers, but by students. I would say it is effective in modern education because it enables the users to relay important information while expressing their interests and creativity, which can improve effective learning.
ReplyDeleteI completely agree that the use of PowerPoint has elevated modern day teaching. PowerPoint has enabled educators to present all their material concisely and has benefited students by allowing them to learn visually and not be overwhelmed with an abundance of information. Great blog.
ReplyDeleteI agree that the use of PowerPoint is very effective. It keeps listeners engaged and on course with what the speaker/ teacher is trying to introduce/emphasize what message they are trying to get across to the audience/ students. With the use of a power point presentation information is made clear, concise and easier to share with those around us.
